For Contractors Burned by Angi

The Angi Leads Alternative — Stop Paying for Shared Garbage

Angi sells one homeowner form-fill to 4 contractors at $25-89 each. 22% of those leads are unreachable, duplicate, or out of scope. PermitGrab is a different model: real building permits, real homeowners, $149/mo flat.

Frequently asked questions

Real questions contractors have asked us. If yours isn't here, email [email protected].

How is PermitGrab different from Angi Leads?

Angi: homeowner fills out a form on a comparison site → Angi sells the form-fill to 4 contractors for $25-89 each → you race to call first → 22% of the leads are unreachable or duplicate. PermitGrab: homeowner pulls a building permit → we collect it daily from the city → you get the address + owner name + phone where available → you call them about the actual work that's happening or just happened. Real construction, not a comparison-site form-fill.

Why are Angi leads so bad?

Three reasons: (1) Angi sells the same lead to 4 contractors, so even good leads end up burned by speed-to-call competition. (2) Many form-fills are tire-kickers gathering quotes, not buyers. (3) Angi's quality bar dropped after HomeAdvisor merger — multiple agencies cite 15-22% of leads as unreachable, duplicate, or out of geographic scope. Contractors on r/Angi and the Roofers Helping Roofers Facebook group call it a 'legal scam.'

How do I cancel Angi Leads?

Log into your Angi Pro account, go to Settings → Account → Cancel Membership. They may try to retain you with a 'pause' option — that just delays cancellation. If you're past the trial, you may also need to dispute any auto-renewed annual charge with your card company. PermitGrab doesn't auto-renew annually — it's month-to-month.

Are these leads shared with other contractors?

No. Building permits are public records — every PermitGrab subscriber in a given city sees the same underlying list, but unlike Angi and HomeAdvisor, we don't sell the same lead 5 times to compete with you. You decide who to call.

How fresh are the leads?

We collect permits daily from the city and county portals. Most cities show permits within 24-48 hours of issuance. The 'Today's Hot Leads' block on each city page shows permits issued in the last 7 days.

Do they include phone numbers?

Yes — owner phones where available (from enrichment), plus the contractor's business phone where the permit data publishes it. Coverage varies by city — Phoenix, Miami-Dade, San Antonio currently top 3 by phone count.

How much does it cost?

PermitGrab is $149/month flat. No annual contract. Cancel anytime. No per-lead fee, no shared-lead surcharge, no surprises.

Can I try before paying?

Yes. The first 10 contractor reveals each month are free with no card required. If you want unlimited reveals, exports, and city alerts, upgrade to Pro at $149/month.
